Add Character to Your New Construction

One of the most common complaints of new construction homes is the lack of character. As I’ve busily saved money for the past few years to build my dream home, I’ve often been worried about this important issue myself. However, while completing some research, I’ve discovered many ways to add character to a newer home. For instance, installing crown molding, a wooden staircase, and trey ceilings are great ways to fill a new abode with character. Another great idea is to install a stained glass window. These colorful beautiful additions give your home old world flair. On this blog, you will learn how to add character to your new place by installing stained glass windows.

4 Signs That It Is Time To Replace Your Windows

Windows in any house are an essential feature. Many people mistakenly think that their windows don't need replacement and go far too long with faulty windows. If you do this you can spend a great deal of money on heating and cooling the house because the windows are no longer insulating the house properly. In addition, the windows may not be keeping the house safe. Here are a couple ways that you know it is time to replace your windows.

1. The Window is Cold or Hot To The Touch

If you have a good double panel window it should protect your house from the temperature outside. The window will reflect the temperature outside, meaning that on a cold day, the window will be very cold to touch. On a hot day you might slightly burn your hand when you touch it.

This is a sign that the double panels are no longer sealing the temperature inside the house. If this is the case for you, you need to get your window replaced right away.

2. The House Has Settled

Many houses settle after they are built. This can be bad for the windows. When the builder installs the windows they do so based on the dimensions of the windows when the house was built. As the house settles, it might mess up the measurements of the window. This means that the window is no longer sealed and is letting air in.

If this is the case you need to have someone come in and re-measure the windows to reinstall them. You might not need to buy completely new windows, but you will need to have them reinstalled.

3. There Is A Draft From The Window

Having a draft coming from the window is a sure sign that you are overdue. This means that the window is not sealed and is letting in all kinds of air. If this is the case you are probably overpaying a great deal on your utilities each month because the house is not insulated properly.

4. There is Condensation Between The Two Panels

If the panels are correctly installed there shouldn't be anything between them. These panels should be sealed off. If you notice anything like condensation, bugs or dust inside the panels, you have a problem. These windows are past their prime and need to be replaced as soon as possible.
