Add Character to Your New Construction

Add Character to Your New Construction

One of the most common complaints of new construction homes is the lack of character. As I’ve busily saved money for the past few years to build my dream home, I’ve often been worried about this important issue myself. However, while completing some research, I’ve discovered many ways to add character to a newer home. For instance, installing crown molding, a wooden staircase, and trey ceilings are great ways to fill a new abode with character. Another great idea is to install a stained glass window. These colorful beautiful additions give your home old world flair. On this blog, you will learn how to add character to your new place by installing stained glass windows.

2 Window Types That Can Make Your Home More Private

Replacing your home's windows is a fantastic way to improve your home, mostly because replacement windows can be used to to do everything from making your home more comfortable, valuable, and even more secure. There are even some windows on the market that can make your home more private, such as soundproof and electrochromic windows.

Soundproof

One of the easiest ways to make the interior of your home more private and relaxing is to block as much noise out of your home as possible. This can be accomplished by installing soundproof windows, which can prevent 90% to 95% of the sound that is attempting to pass through your windows. This is a fantastic option if you live near a noisy area, such as a city center, school, intersection, or a highway.

In addition to keeping your home quieter, this option increases your privacy by also limiting the amount of noise that actually exits your home. This is accomplished by either installing soundproof windows consisting of a single thick piece of glass or windows built from two panes of glass and a bit of empty space in between. By blocking the sound from leaving your room, you can ensure that your neighbors do not hear everything that is happening within your home, while also being able to listen to your television, music, and movies at louder volumes without disturbing anyone outside of your house.

Electrochromic

Another great way to increase the privacy within your home is to utilize electrochromic windows, which utilize an electrical current to darken the glass. This option allows you to cause your windows to darken to the point where no one is able to see in or out of your house, or to darken the window enough to shade the interior of the home and still allow you to enjoy the view from your window. In most cases, electrochromic windows will reflect around 98% of the light that strikes them.

In addition to increasing your privacy, electrochromic windows will also keep the interior of your home quite a bit cooler, which can lower your utility bills as you will not need to use your air conditioner as much. Another added benefit is that by blocking the light from entering your home, you can prevent your furniture and carpet from fading.

Speak to a window dealer (such as Morgan Exteriors Inc) or contractor in order to discuss which windows will work best for your home and budget. Electrochromic and soundproof windows are great options because they increase the amount of privacy that you can enjoy in your home.
