Add Character to Your New Construction

About Me

Add Character to Your New Construction

One of the most common complaints of new construction homes is the lack of character. As I’ve busily saved money for the past few years to build my dream home, I’ve often been worried about this important issue myself. However, while completing some research, I’ve discovered many ways to add character to a newer home. For instance, installing crown molding, a wooden staircase, and trey ceilings are great ways to fill a new abode with character. Another great idea is to install a stained glass window. These colorful beautiful additions give your home old world flair. On this blog, you will learn how to add character to your new place by installing stained glass windows.

Adding Privacy To Your Home's Windows

If you wish to add extra privacy in the window areas of your home, you have several choices to select from in obtaining the amount of added security you wish to gain. Here are some ways you can distort or eliminate the view people will get from the other side of your window's glass panes.

Add Some Film To Distort The View

Adding a layer of window film to your glass pane will eliminate the risk of someone being able to peer inside a room. Window film comes in a variety of patterns and glazing, allowing you to decide exactly how much light you wish to shine through the glass. These films can be purchased in a hardware store and are easily applied to a glass pane by peeling and sticking into place.

The glass should be free of all debris before application so there are no spots with protrusions or bumps when the film is in place. If you decide you wish to change the pattern or intensity of privacy you have on the window, simply peel the old film off, wash the window to remove any leftover glue, dry thoroughly, and place a new piece of film.

Use Tinting To Obstruct View

Window tint can be added to your windows to help distort the view someone will have when trying to look through a window. The tint will be darker on the exterior of the window, but lighter on the interior side so you will be able to enjoy the sunlight without giving up your privacy. Window tint is applied with a tinting solution, water, and a squeegee. Purchase a window tinting kit which gives you all the materials you need to cover your window panes on your own.

Cover Your Windows With Decorative Treatments

Draperies, curtains, and blinds are all great at keeping people's prying eyes from seeing what is going on inside a building. Pick a treatment in a color that matches the interior of your room and use it at times when you wish for a bit more seclusion. This is a cheap way to cover windows without altering the window itself to obtain some extra privacy.

Swap Your Windows For Higher Security Models

If you are looking for a permanent privacy solution, consider having your windows replaced with panes of opaque or frosted glass already incorporated into the window's design. These are great windows for bathroom or bedroom windows where extra privacy is often desired. If you wish to have the option of using privacy only at certain times, a double-paned window with a set of blinds placed between the panes may be the answer. You can crank the blinds open or closed as you desire. Click here for more information on window installation.
